Give each important page a clear purpose

A service page should explain the offer, suitable customers, scope and next step. Use a descriptive main heading, unique title and useful summary. There is no universal word count that guarantees ranking. Add details that help a buyer decide and link related services and guides where the connection is useful.

Check what a crawler actually receives

Request the public URL and inspect its status, robots directive and canonical link. Make sure important text and links are available in the rendered response. Verify that robots.txt allows the pages you want crawled and references the correct sitemap. A page marked noindex must be crawlable for a search engine to see that directive; blocking it in robots.txt is not equivalent.

Verify URLs, redirects and structured data

Use your preferred HTTPS domain consistently. If URLs changed, test the old-to-new redirect map and preserve relevant paths. Keep missing-page responses as real 404s. Structured data should match visible content and the actual business: do not invent ratings, office addresses or results. Valid markup does not guarantee a rich search result.

Measure a business outcome without exposing personal information

Choose events for meaningful steps such as starting an enquiry or selecting a contact channel. A click is not proof of a received message. Use a consent approach appropriate to the analytics integration, and exclude names, email addresses, message content and URL query strings from event data. Review actual conversations to understand which leads were useful.

Verify the domain and review after launch

Use authorised access to verify a Search Console property, submit the sitemap and inspect priority URLs. Indexing is not instant or guaranteed. Check live mobile performance, contact methods and security or manual-action reports. Keep a release log and review relevant impressions, clicks and qualified enquiries over comparable periods.

Your practical checklist

  • Clear service intent, unique metadata and useful links
  • Public status, canonical and robots directives checked
  • Sitemap and changed-URL redirects validated
  • Structured data matches visible facts
  • Contact events distinguished from received leads
  • Search Console ownership and review cadence established
